Funding Support

Powys County Council operates funding schemes to support businesses and community organisations investing in the county.

These capital schemes are managed by the Council's Regeneration service.

Powys County Council Community Grants

The Council’s grant aid is designed to help and support voluntary and community organisations.

Generally, it will consider applications for grants which:

• assist in delivering its core values and principles detailed within the Powys Change Plan and the Corporate aims specifically through Regeneration of Powys communities to ensure

• support the local people of Powys in improving their quality of life

• encourage partnership working within the local community

• represent value for money

The programme's main purpose is to support social and community development at the heart of the community. Voluntary groups and organisations must demonstrate that they are properly constituted and sustainable.
Community Regeneration development fund is available for capital projects that:

  • Provide facilities or activities, which reduce poverty, inequality, discrimination and social disadvantage.

The fund is able to consider up to a 50% grant rate on the total project cost, up to a value of £10,000 against an expenditure of £20,000.

Powys County Council Town Centre Loan Scheme

Powys County Council operates a town centre loan scheme funded by the Welsh Government. The loans are available for a wide range of projects in Llandrindod Wells, Newtown and Brecon – from brownfield site development to returning empty business/residential units back into use. The key aim of the scheme is to reduce the number of vacant, underutilised and redundant sites and premises within the Town Centre.

The interest free loans are available to residential and commercial property owners, repayable within five years. The loans will then be ‘recycled’ for use on other projects. This 15 year scheme will invigorate our towns and encourage investment in business units and affordable housing.
