Vibrant Towns

Helping people in Powys benefit from a thriving diverse economy.

Vibrant Towns is a High Street/Retail initiative that aims to address current issues in the high street and identify ways of increasing footfall/ use, reducing vacancy rates, and stimulating enterprise by developing a toolkit for Town Centre Revitalisation.

The project implements actions to test activities in the Pilot towns of Newtown and Rhayader. Selected actions are from recommendations made by an independent research report including:

  • Digital marketing (specifically by website retailing) and

  • Meanwhile uses of retail or business properties

Success is measured against project-specific outcomes strongly tied to milestone setting to allow regular monitoring.

The project seeks to identify tools that can ‘make a difference’ and uses action learning from their trial implementation to assist others to be better informed on selection to create their own solutions to local town centre problems.
