The Regeneration Funding Team within the Economic and Regeneration Service provides a project development and advisory service on all aspects of funding which includes researching and identifying opportunities to bid for funding and supporting project applications.
We have access to dedicated resources such as GRANTfinder to help find potential sources of funding. Some of the main funds available in Powys are listed below.

Community Funding
Funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales (RDP) as part of the Welsh Government and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, Arwain is working with Powys County Council to deliver the LEADER 2014 - 2020 programme in Powys.
LEADER uses local knowledge to promote a joined-up “Grass Roots” community-led delivery for rural development. It has been successful in securing £3,750,000 for projects for communities.
> National Lottery Community Fund
We give grants from £300 to more than £500,000 to community and voluntary groups and charities.
> National Lottery Heritage Fund
We offer a range of different grant programmes with grants from £3,000 to over £5million. In assessing applications, we take account of the outcomes for heritage, people and communities that projects will achieve.
Arts Council of Wales is the country’s funding and development agency for the arts. Our vision is of a creative Wales where the arts are central to the life and wellbeing of the nation.
From grassroots sport to the Principality Stadium, we want to develop a nation of champions. Helping to improve sport in your community takes a Sport Wales grant.
Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport organisations across all sectors of including schools, further and higher education, adult education and the youth sector. It offers exciting opportunities for UK participants to study, work, volunteer, teach and train abroad in Europe.
The aim of this programme is to bring Europe closer to its citizens and to enable them to participate fully in the European Union. The programme provides an opportunity to be involved in transnational exchanges and cooperation activities, contributing to developing a sense of belonging to common European ideals and encouraging the process of European integration. One example is the Programme’s support for town twinning.
Aims to improve the implementation of regional development policies and programmes. There are 4 themes: Research & Innovation, SME competitiveness, Low-carbon economy and Environment & resource efficiency. The scheme is open to public bodies and private non-profit organisations with funding at 85%.
LIFE+ Programme supports environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout Europe.
Business Funding
> Powys County Council Town Centre Loan Scheme
Powys County Council has been successful in securing a £1,250,000 loan scheme from Welsh Government for urban regeneration. The key aim of the scheme is to reduce the number of vacant, underutilised and redundant sites and premises within the Town Centre.

Finance Wales helps Welsh SMEs by offering commercial investment starting from £1000 up to £3 million. We invest in start-ups and early stage enterprises as well as more established businesses.
> Training Funding- Retrofit Building Coordinator Programme

Horizon 2020 is a research and innovation based initiative that will supply funds for research in specific themes such as excellent science, competitive industries and better society. It offers UK businesses and researchers important opportunities to find finance, networks and partnerships for innovation. The Welsh European Funding Office has established a Horizon 2020 Unit to provide advice and support to Welsh organisations looking for the most appropriate research and development funding available from the European Union.
COSME is the EU programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) running from 2014 to 2020. Themes covered by the Programme are: Better Access to Finance; Access to Markets and Supporting Entrepreneurs.
Creative Europe supports the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors with the potential to travel, to reach new audiences and to encourage skill sharing and development. A MEDIA sub-programme, which invests in film, television, new media and games.
